student-student mentorships

All second-year students mentor one or two first-year students. This ensures that learning transmigrates from the experienced students to the new students and that the experienced students take responsibility for the well-being of the new students.

"The second-year mentors have been a valuable resource to me personally. The mentors help me with classes I have difficulties with and help me make decisions about classes that are good to take in the future. The mentorship also adds to the camaraderie that is built into the system, giving the program and its members a support system.

"Having a second-year mentor meant that I knew I had someone that could help me out with class scheduling, advice on homework and tests, or finding an internship because they had already gone through everything before me and could share their experience with me."
— Benjamin Davis

"My second-year tutor has truly been an asset. She gives great advice on how to succeed in my courses, providing information on the teaching style of professors and letting me know what type of work load to expect. Additionally, she gives instructions on finding a summer internship, distributing contact information, and other helpful resources. Overall, she seems to care about my academic and personal achievements."
